Arrive at Queenstown International Airport, taking in the majestic views of the Remarkable Mountain Range as you land. From the airport, transfer to the town of Cromwell, known for its serene landscape nestled by Lake Dunstan. Settle into your cabins and enjoy a relaxing evening in the peaceful rural surroundings.
Overnight: Cromwell
Begin your day with a thrilling mountain biking adventure along the famous Central Otago Rail Trail, starting in Omakau and covering 30 kilometers to Oturehua. After a morning of biking, enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing your journey to the coastal township of Karitane. In the evening, experience a traditional Māori welcome ceremony at Puketeraki Marae, where you’ll be introduced to local customs and culture.
Overnight: Puketeraki Marae
Spend the day exploring the cultural and environmental heritage of Karitane. Learn about the history of the Huriawa Peninsula, once a stronghold of the Māori chief Te Wera. Participate in environmental projects led by the local community, gaining insights into their deep connection with the land and sea. Hike along the coastline and enjoy the scenic views.
Overnight: Puketeraki Marae
Depart Karitane and travel to Dunedin, where you’ll embark on a cruise along Otago Harbour. The cruise offers the chance to observe local wildlife, including fur seals, sea lions, penguins, and albatrosses. Afterward, arrive at Quarantine Island, a historic quarantine station turned nature reserve, where you’ll spend the night. Explore the regenerating forests and learn about the island’s rich history.
Overnight: Quarantine Island
Begin your morning with a sunrise yoga session on Quarantine Island, followed by breakfast. Spend the rest of the morning helping with restoration projects on the island, contributing to the upkeep of the historic buildings. In the afternoon, travel to the historic gold mining town of Arrowtown, where you’ll check into your accommodation and relax for the evening.

Head to Queenstown, where you’ll take a gondola ride up Bob’s Peak, offering panoramic views of the city, Lake Wakatipu, and The Remarkables. At the top, race your friends on the mountain luge track for an exhilarating experience. After lunch at the famous Fergburger, enjoy a relaxing hike along the shores of Lake Wakatipu before returning to Arrowtown.
Overnight: Arrowtown
Embark on a three-day hiking adventure along the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. On Day 7, start from Routeburn Shelter and hike to Routeburn Falls Hut, passing scenic waterfalls and beech forests. On Day 8, continue to Harris Saddle, the highest point on the trail, where you’ll take in breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. On Day 9, hike back to the starting point and return to Queenstown in the evening.
Overnight: Routeburn Falls Hut (Days 7-8), Queenstown (Day 9)
Spend your final morning exploring the shops and cafes of Queenstown or take a walk along the foreshore of Lake Wakatipu. In the afternoon, transfer to Queenstown Airport for your departure, concluding your South Island adventure.
