Itinerary

Welcome to the Dominican Republic! Upon arrival in Santo Domingo, meet your tour director and then drop off your bags at the hotel and head out for your first night in the Colonial Zone, the historic walled quarter and UNESCO World Heritage site rich with food and music. Explore old colonial buildings converted into coffee shops, restaurants, and community arts spaces. The weather allows for a blossoming bohemian scene at night where La Zona Colonial’s plazas and squares become centers for artistic, folkloric, and cultural expressions. Welcome to Quisqueya!

Overnight: Santo Domingo

After breakfast, travel through the foothills to the region of Bella Vista, where you’ll be staying for the next two nights. These days will be spent working on health education workshops alongside a local NGO that has been running community outreach health programs for batey communities for the last 12 years, serving about 2,000 people across five different communities.

Outside of health initiatives, you will also have time to go on a 3-mile hike up the surrounding mountainside and swim in the river that flows through the community. Spend your evenings getting to know your hosts and learning about life in Bella Vista.
Overnight: Bella Vista

After breakfast, embark on an adventure-packed day. Drive south towards the 27 Charcos, a collection of waterfalls that you can jump, slide, and rappel down. Enjoy lunch near the waterfalls before heading back to your eco-lodge for dinner and a peaceful evening.
Overnight: Sosua

After a hearty breakfast, meet the local NGO team that has been running community outreach health programs for batey communities for the last 12 years. Spend these days participating in medical brigades in communities across Sosúa. Your service will consist of assisting physicians and providing healthcare support.

After breakfast, hop on a boat and go snorkeling in the turquoise waters of the Amber Coast. Enjoy a quinticential beach day that the DR is renown for! At the end of the day, reflect on your experience and what it has taught you.

After breakfast, your tour director will escort your group to the airport to make your way home. We hope you enjoyed your stay in the Dominican Republic!
