Itinerary

Welcome to Athens! Upon arrival at the airport, your local GEC tour director will meet you and the group will transfer to central Athens. Enjoy lunch in a café or restaurant and then enjoy an introductory panoramic sightseeing tour of Athens. You’ll see famous landmarks such as Syntagma Square, the Greek Parliament, and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. Admire the neoclassical buildings of the University of Athens, the Academy, and the National Library from the coach. Make a quick stop at the historic Panathenaic Stadium, which hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. The day ends with a visit to the National Archaeological Museum, home to ancient Greek art and artifacts, including the Mask of Agamemnon. Afterward, head to your hotel for check-in and dinner, and then rest up for the adventure ahead.
Overnight: Athens

After breakfast, gear up for a full day exploring Athens. Start by visiting the Acropolis, where you’ll explore key sites like the Parthenon, the Porch of the Caryatids, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Next, visit the Roman Agora, where you’ll discover remains of ancient shops, public buildings, and the Tower of the Winds. After lunch (payable locally), visit the ruins of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and make a photo stop at Lycabettus Hill for stunning views of Athens. Drive through the upscale neighborhood of Kolonaki, known for its trendy boutiques and cafes, and end the afternoon with a walking tour of the historic Plaka district, where you can shop for souvenirs or enjoy a coffee at a local café.
Overnight: Athens

After breakfast, depart by coach for a picturesque drive along the Apollo Coast, also known as the Athens Riviera, towards Cape Sounion. Visit the Temple of Poseidon, perched on a cliff with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Learn about the history and mythology associated with the temple before continuing along the coast to Anavyssos Beach for an afternoon of relaxation and leisure by the sea. Enjoy a seaside meal at a local taverna (payable locally), and perhaps try optional activities like snorkeling or paddleboarding. On the return journey to Athens, stop in Glyfada to explore its shopping district, known for its boutiques and high-end stores.
Overnight: Athens

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and embark on a coach journey to Volos, traveling through the scenic Greek countryside. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at a local taverna, where you can try local specialties like ‘tsipouro meze.’ Afterward, meet your local guide to discover Volos, a beautiful city with a historic port built at the foot of Mount Pelion. Explore the Palia quarter, see the Rigas Feraios square, and stroll along the pedestrianized Argonauts Way. Visit the green Goritsa Hill, where you’ll find the 1892 church of Panagia, offering panoramic views of Volos.
Overnight: Volos

After breakfast, pick up your packed lunch and depart by coach for a full day discovering Mount Olympus National Park. Start with a brief stop at Livethra ‘Magnetic Field’ Gravity Hill, known for its intriguing gravitational anomaly. Continue to the Olympus National Park Information Centre to learn about the park’s trails, flora, and fauna, before meeting your local hiking guide for a briefing on the hiking route. Begin your hike from the Monastery of Saint Dionysios, nestled in the heart of the Enipeas Gorge, and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains and coastline along the way. The hike ends at the Stavros Refuge, where you will board the coach to return to Volos.
Overnight: Volos

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and board the coach for your return journey to Athens, with a stop in Delphi. Upon arrival, have lunch at a local taverna, payable locally, before meeting your guide for a visit to the Archaeological Site of Delphi. Explore the key sites of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Temple of Apollo, the Theatre of Delphi, the ancient stadium, and the Treasury of the Athenians. Visit the Delphi Archaeological Museum, where you’ll see artifacts like the bronze statue of the Charioteer of Delphi and the Sphinx of Naxos. Return to Athens by coach in the late afternoon.
Overnight: Athens

After breakfast, transfer by coach to the Delta Kallithea Marina in Athens to board your boat for a full day cruising around the Athenian Riviera islands. Relax on deck, enjoy the warm sun, and take in the beautiful views. The first stop is Agistri Island, where you can explore, shop, or swim. The cruise continues to Metopi Island for a superb swimming experience, followed by lunch on the way to Moni Island, where you can enjoy sightseeing or more swimming. The final stop is Aegina Island, where you can spend your free time exploring or relaxing. Return to Athens in the late afternoon.
Overnight: Athens

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer by coach to Athens Airport for your departure. Reflect on your incredible journey through Greece as you say goodbye to this beautiful country.
