Walk the Great Wall, volunteer with pandas, and explore the vibrant cities of China, culminating with a visit to the energetic streets and dazzling skyline of Hong Kong.
Welcome to Beijing! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by your GEC tour director and transferred to your hotel in downtown Beijing. After check-in, relax or explore the nearby areas at your leisure before settling in for the evening.
Overnight: Beijing
Start your adventure by exploring the heart of Beijing at Tiananmen Square, followed by a visit to the Forbidden City, which was the seat of power for over 500 years during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. After lunch, head to the Temple of Heaven, where ancient emperors prayed for good harvests. End the day with a cultural experience on a rickshaw tour of Beijing’s Hutongs, and participate in activities like Chinese calligraphy and Beijing Opera facial painting.

Today, travel to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China. Take a cable car up, hike along this less-crowded section, and enjoy spectacular views before taking a toboggan ride down. After lunch, visit the Sacred Road of the Ming Tombs, followed by an exterior view of the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, Beijing’s Olympic stadiums. Finish the day with a traditional Peking Duck dinner.

In the morning, visit the Summer Palace and enjoy a boat ride on Kunming Lake, if the weather permits. Afterward, board a high-speed train to Xi’an, arriving in the evening to check into your hotel.

Today’s highlight is a visit to the awe-inspiring Terracotta Warriors and Horses. After lunch, return to the city to visit the Grand Mosque and Gao’s Grand Courtyard, where you can enjoy a shadow puppet show. Finish the day with a walk through the bustling Muslim Quarter, known for its vibrant street food and lively atmosphere.
Overnight: Xi’an
Begin your day with a visit to Xi’an’s Ancient City Wall, where you can bike along the top and enjoy panoramic views of the city. After a Tai Chi lesson on the wall, board a high-speed train to Chengdu. Upon arrival, enjoy a hot pot dinner, a local specialty.
Overnight: Chengdu
Participate in the Dujiangyan Panda Volunteer Program, where you’ll help clean panda enclosures, prepare food, and learn about panda conservation efforts. This is an incredible opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close! After lunch, return to Chengdu to visit Wenshu Temple and explore Jinli Old Street, known for its vibrant folk culture and delicious snacks.

After breakfast, visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, where you can observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Afterward, visit the Sanxingdui Museum to discover the fascinating relics of the ancient Shu Kingdom.

Fly from Chengdu to Hong Kong. Upon arrival, check into your hotel in Kowloon and take some time to explore the surrounding area.

Today is dedicated to exploring Hong Kong. Visit Victoria Peak for breathtaking views, explore the historic Stanley Market, and learn about traditional boat life in Aberdeen. In the evening, enjoy a “Hong Kong by Night” tour, including a tram ride, a Star Ferry cruise, and a visit to Temple Street Night Market.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure, bringing your incredible journey through China and Hong Kong to an end.
